Sally Marett

Teacher of: Contemporary Voice Workshop

Sally Marett has been performing professionally for over 20 years, starting

her career on the Channel 7 television program “Home & Away” at the age

of 15. She appeared on the show as a regular character for 2 years before

studying Theatre and Acting at the Western Australian Academy of

Performing Arts (WAAPA) where she completed an Advanced Diploma of

Performing Arts. During this time Sally continued building her love of music,

and in 2004 she studied and completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Music

(majoring in voice) at Southern Cross University in Lismore.

After graduating in 2006 Sally moved back to Sydney and began playing

professionally on the live music scene, where she continues to thrive today.

She was the lead vocalist in the band Shinola! and regularly performs in a

variety of different projects singing contemporary styles including Jazz,

Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and Pop. In 2010 she released an EP of her original

music. More recently Sally was a member of electronic soul duo POLY,

where she assumed the roles of vocalist and co-song writer. The band

launched in November 2013, and was very well received with airplay on

triple j unearthed digital, as well as cementing themselves with an exciting

live show. Sally has performed backing vocals for artists such as Illy, Paris

Wells and Ngaiire and has appeared on Channel 7’s “Sunrise” program

and Channel 9’s “The Footy Show”.

Sally is currently working on her debut solo project Marét due late 2017.

Sally has been teaching since 2007 both privately, in the Independent

Schools system and at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Open

Academy, where she teaches the Contemporary Singing programs. In 2010

she conducted a vocal workshop at Southern Cross University as part of

their Women in Contemporary Music program. She is a warm and

engaging singer and educator who is passionate about music and music

education.
