Teacher of: Vocal Studies
Originally from Canberra, Sarah moved to Brisbane to complete a Bachelor of Music in Performance of Classical Voice at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Since then she has performed in a variety of opera, musical theatre and concert productions. Operatic highlights have included playing the role of Mustardseed in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the role of the Nightingale in Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol. Sarah’s concert work has included Handel’s Messiah in addition to Vivaldi’s Gloria. Sarah has also performed in Canberra musical theatre productions in the role of Vivienne in Legally Blond and understudied the roles of Christine and Carlotta in Free Rain Theatre’s Phantom of the Opera.
For the past 9 years I have been teaching singing in both schools and private studios. I have also been a vocal coach for a variety of musical theatre productions including Bye Bye Birdie, West Side Story, Forbidden Broadway, Legally Blonde and The Little Mermaid. I believe in a holistic approach to teaching singing incorporating a combination of a strong foundational technique and I also feel the love of singing needs to be nurtured to ensure utmost enjoyment and skill development.
In 2015 I completed a Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology at Macquarie University. I currently work as a Speech Pathologist in addition to being a voice consultant for Free Rain Theatre Company and a singing teacher at Bellchambers Music School.
